Privacy Policy

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully. By using the BESTFIT website and submitting data via this website, you are giving your consent that all personal data that you submit may be processed by us in the manner and for the purposes described in the following privacy policy.

Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes the current policies and practices of BESTFIT Media with regard to the collection, storage and use of your personal information.

The term ‘personal data’ refers to personally identifiable information about you, such as your name, e-mail address, organisation name or mailing address.

Cookies & Information We Collect

Our primary goal in using cookies is to monitor what your favourite pages are on our site so that we can improve our service and provide you with a smooth and efficient experience and the most relevant and interesting content for you while using our services. We also pass on information about usage to partners.

We automatically track certain information about you based upon your behaviour on our site. We use this information to do internal research on our users’ demographics, interests, and behaviour to better understand and serve our users.

We use a web analytics tool to analyse site usage, how our users arrive at our site, what they do on the site, what browser they are using and on what operating system etc. However, this analytics data, collected via a JavaScript tag in the pages of our site, is not tied to personally identifiable information.

We use a number of different cookies on our site. If you do not know what cookies are, or how to control or delete them, then we recommend you visit http://www.aboutcookies.org for detailed guidance.

Currently we operate an ‘implied consent’ policy which means that we assume you are happy with this usage. If you are not happy, then you should either not use this site, or you should delete your cookies having visited the site, or you should browse the site using your browser’s anonymous usage setting (called “Incognito” in Chrome, “InPrivate” for Internet Explorer, “Private Browsing” in Firefox and Safari etc.)

Persistent Cookies for Site Analytics and Performance

Google Analytics

We use this to understand how the site is being used in order to improve the user experience. User data is all anonymous. You can find out more about Google’s position on privacy as regards its analytics service at http://www.google.co.uk/intl/en/analytics/privacyoverview.html

Social buttons

On many of the pages of the site you will see ‘social buttons’. These enable users to share or bookmark the web pages. There are buttons for: Facebook ‘Like’, Twitter, Pinterest, Google +1, Reddit and digg. In order to implement these buttons, and connect them to the relevant social networks and external sites, there are scripts from domains outside of our own website. You should be aware that these sites are likely to be collecting information about what you are doing all around the internet, including on our website. So if you click on any of these buttons, these sites will be registering that action and may use that information. In some cases these sites will be registering the fact that you are visiting our website, and the specific pages you are on, even if you don’t click on the button if you are logged into their services, like Google and Facebook. You should check the respective policies of each of these sites to see how exactly they use your information and to find out how to opt out, or delete, such information.

Email tracking

In some emails that we send we add tracking so that we can tell how much traffic those emails send to our site e.g. our daily newsletter. Some emails we can track, at an individual level, whether the user has opened and clicked on the email. We rarely use the latter information at a personal level, rather we use it to understand open and click rates on our emails to try and improve them. Sometimes we do use the personal information e.g. to re-email people who didn’t click the first time. If you want to be sure that none of your email activity is tracked then you should opt out of our emails which you can do by clicking the unsubscribe button at the bottom of every email newsletter.

Notification of changes to this policy

We are continually adding new functionality and features to this website and also improving existing services. Because of these ongoing improvements, modifications in the law and the changing nature of technology, our data practices may vary from time to time. If and when our data practices change, we will (as soon as practical) amend this policy in order to reflect these changes. As such, we encourage you to check these pages frequently. Should you continue to use this website after the policy has been amended means you will be deemed to have accepted and consented to the changes, whether you revisit this page or not.

Collection of personal data including e-mail addresses

It is possible to browse elements of the BESTFIT website without registering, however should you register to our newsletter, you will be required to provide certain personal data. We will collect and store the information that you give us. We may share that data with partners. The following personal information will be collected at the time of registration:

Your name, job title, postal address, organisation name, email address, telephone number, fax number, various other information relating to you and your company.

We reserve the right to supplement the information that you provide with information that is received from third parties. For instance, if inaccurate postal or zip codes are received at the time of registration, we may use third party software and tools to fix them.

Use of personal data

We process your personal data only for specific and limited purposes. We ask only for data that is adequate, relevant and not excessive for those purposes.

In addition to providing our services and products to you as set out above, we will contact you occasionally to inform you of news and developments relating to the outsourcing sector, the new products and services that we provide, and/or events or articles that we think will be of interest to you. We will also use your personal data internally to help us improve our products and services and to help resolve any problems.

To opt-out of such communication

Should you no longer wish to receive information from us and want to be removed from our mailing list at any time, please email hello@bestfitmedia.co.uk.

Anonymous data collected through this website

In addition to the information we collect as described above, we use technology to collect anonymous information about the use of the website. For example, we use technology to track which pages of the website visitors view. We also use technology to determine which web browsers our visitors use. This technology does not identify you personally; it simply enables us to compile statistics about our visitors and how they use the website. We use this anonymous data to improve the content and functionality of the website and our e-mail updates, to better understand our clients and markets, and to improve our services.

Cookies

In order to collect the anonymous data described in the preceding paragraph, we may in the future use temporary ‘cookies’ that collect the first level domain name of the user (for example, if your e-mail address is ‘yourname@yourcompany.com’, the cookie collects the ‘yourcompany.com’ portion of your e-mail address) and the date and time you accessed the website.

Cookies by themselves cannot be used to discover the identity of the user. A cookie is a small piece of information that is sent to your browser and stored on your computer’s hard drive. Cookies do not damage your computer. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie. This enables you to decide if you want to accept it or not.

We also use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer the website. An IP address is a numeric code that identifies your computer on a network, or in this case, the internet. Your IP address is also used to gather broad demographic information, such as determining how many of our visitors are from outside of the United Kingdom. We may also perform IP lookups to determine which domain you are coming from (i.e. aol.com, yourcompany.com) to more accurately gauge our users’ demographics.

Disclosure of your personal data

BESTFIT Media recognises that your privacy is important, and is committed to protecting it. For this reason BESTFIT Media will not share, sell or distribute your personal data to unrelated third parties, except under these strictly limited circumstances:

* Personal data may occasionally be transferred to third parties who act for us for further processing in accordance with the purposes for which the data was originally collected or for purposes to which you have subsequently consented.

* We may share or transfer the information in our databases to comply with a legal requirement, for the administration of justice, to protect your vital interests, to protect the security or integrity of our databases or this website, to take precautions against legal liability, or in the event of a sale, merger, reorganisation, dissolution or similar event.

* We may share or transfer the information in our databases with other divisions of the EMP group of companies where appropriate.

Before disclosing personal data to a third party, we contractually require the third party to take adequate precautions to protect that data and maintain confidentiality.

Data integrity and security

We strive to maintain the reliability, accuracy, completeness and currency of personal data in our databases and to protect the privacy and security of our databases. We keep your personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or to comply with any applicable legal or ethical reporting or document retention requirements.

Our employees and counsellors who have access to personal data have been trained to handle such data properly and in accordance with our security protocols and strict standards of confidentiality. Although we cannot guarantee against any loss, misuse, unauthorised disclosure, alteration or destruction of data, we try to prevent such unfortunate occurrences.

Data access and corrections

Upon receipt of your written request and enough information to permit us to identify your personal data, we will disclose to you the personal data we hold about you. We will also correct, amend or delete any personal data that is inaccurate and notify any third party recipients of the necessary changes.

If you wish to access or correct your personal data, please email hello@bestfitmedia.co.uk.

We do not charge for complying with a correction request, however, for all other requests, we may charge a small fee to cover its costs. Requests to delete personal data are subject to any applicable legal and ethical reporting or document retention obligations imposed on us.

This website may contain hyperlinks to websites that are not operated by us. These hyperlinks are provided for your reference and convenience only and do not imply any endorsement of the activities of these third-party websites or any association with their operators. We do not control these websites and are not responsible for their data or privacy practices.
