Music lovers and health fanatics alike will be glad to know that attending gigs will boost your wellbeing, according to a study commissioned by O2. The scientific study used bespoke psychometric and heart rate tests at a range of activities including live music gigs, yoga and dog walking. The gigs increased participant’s wellbeing by 21%. Key markers across the happiness spectrum showed improvement including a 25% rise in self-worth and closeness to others, and a whopping 75% increase in mental stimulation. Further research has also shown that a rise in wellbeing can add as much as nine years to our lives. The bottom line? Treat yourself to a live gig once a fortnight – your health depends on it.
