Get juice ready for summer

If you’re looking for some juicing recipes to help aid health and vitality this summer (with the added bonus of shedding a few pounds to help you look your best), then Jason Vale’s juicing recipes will do just that…

Hay Fever Heaven

The Anti-Histamine Super Shot. At Juicemaster we think severe “hay fever” needs renaming, as people just don’t take it seriously enough. It’s a condition not to be sneezed at!

We are not saying this will 100% clear all of your symptoms but there is no harm in giving it a go. Unlike most drugs, it’s adverse and side-effect free (unless you are allergic to the ingredients of course!) It works for me every year and I hope it will work for you.

BEST SERVED: Every single morning for at least four weeks before your pollen season starts and every day during the whole season. Best taken in a small shot glass and downed in one.

INGREDIENTS: 6cm chunk ginger root, half a lemon (unwaxed), one large apple, one small handful ice cubes.

TO JUICE: Simply juice the apple, lemon and ginger then serve with ice!

Bitter-Sweet Sunshine

This juice resembles a well-known drink in a can but comes without the refined sugar! You know… the one with the totally tropical taste. This refreshing beauty on the other hand, is as pure as nature herself.

INGREDIENTS: Pink grapefruit, 1⁄2 (peeled) pineapple, 300ml San Pellegrino sparkling water, one small handful ice cubes.

TASTE PURE SUNSHINE: Simply juice the grapefruit and pineapple and mix half and half with the sparkling water. Pour over ice and drink.

Best Served… whilst sun bathing on the white sands of a Caribbean paradise, the crystal clear waves lapping against the shore… pure bliss. JUICY FACT! POWERFUL PINEAPPLE: Pineapples contain proteindigesting enzymes. The main one is called Bromelain – this stuff is so powerful it is capable of digesting 1,000 times its weight of protein. The enzyme also helps to dissolve excess mucus and thus relieves the symptoms of asthma and hay fever.

The Healthy Mojito

The Mojito is a cocktail that consists of five ingredients: white rum, sugar, lime juice, sparkling water and mint. In this juice-inspired virgin alternative, you can sip this summer classic knowing there’s nothing but pure health in your glass.

INGREDIENTS: one lime (peeled), 2 handfuls fresh mint Leaves, four handfuls green seedless grapes, one small handful crushed ice cubes.

HOW TO CREATE: Line the inside of a tall glass with a handful of mint leaves and fill with crushed ice. Put the grapes into your juicer with the lime and a handful of mint. Turn your juicer onto the slowest speed setting and push through slowly. Pour slowly into your glass, garnish with a lime wedge and some mint leaves and serve with a straw. Perfection!

BEST SERVED: In a proper Mojito glass, preferably under a shady palm tree on the gorgeous white sands of Cuba’s Playa Paraíso, reading something by Ernest Hemmingway for that little sophisticated touch!
