If you follow Anna Woolhouse on social media, you’ll know she takes her fitness pretty seriously. here, the tv presenter talks trx, yoga and the benefits of boxing.
People know I’m into my fitness and so they’re often asking me for advice. I think the best advice I can give is to find out what works for your body type and go with it.
I personally find if I do a lot of weight training I can build muscle fairly quickly, which is not ideal for me. So I try and stick to bodyweight workouts rather than heavy lifting. Also, you have to enjoy what you do. If you don’t, then there is no chance of persevering and getting the best out of your workout. It is also OK to have rest days. If you’re tired, listen to your body and do what it needs, if that’s nothing then that’s OK.
Boxing is one of my favourite sports at the moment, I love it! I’m also a huge fan of TRX training. There are so many ways you can incorporate it into your workout. It’s such an easy portable piece of kit, you can literally take it anywhere – my TRX is usually found flung around a tree in a park. My trainer also likes mixing things up and often brings new equipment to work out with, such as bungee sprints, which are basically a giant piece of elastic tied around your waist which another person holds on to you while you run as fast as you can. It’s a lung buster. Slam balls are also great for the shoulders and arms, they are great for cardio endurance and help improve hand-eye coordination, not to mention acting as a nice little stress buster, which is an added bonus.

I try and do a pilates or yoga session at least once a week as I find it helps stretch muscles that are often pounded in my other sessions. I mainly do reformer pilates mixed up with HIIT, the combo is awesome.
I wish I could say I was better than I am at golf, but I definitely have a long way to go until I can say I’m any good. Some days I feel like I’m hitting the ball well and making progress, others it’s disastrous! I’ve started having lessons as I want to improve, so watch this space, Rory.
I do seem to love a selfie! It all started really when I started presenting the netball on Sky Sports. I did a couple of selfies with my guests for the first few weeks then afterwards, whenever I had new guests on the show, they’d be like, ‘shall we do a selfie?” I don’t really take myself too seriously, so any selfie is definitely a little tongue in cheek! That said, it does enable you to monitor your body shape and progress… so, why not?
