FANCY A ‘DIRTY WEEKEND’?

dirtyW_124

In May, Burghley House, an Elizabethan country estate, will play host to a ‘dirty weekend’ for over 8,000 people. The event is organised by leading adventure sports company Rat Race who will transform the grounds into the longest obstacle course in the world.

Participants will have to conquer over 200 obstacles, more than any other event, across 20 miles and 20 themed zones. The challenge includes one or two world record breaking challenges along the way, too, namely the world’s longest set of monkey bars and the longest cat crawl. Other obstacles include energy sapping inflatables, mud runs, huge wooden frames, vertical walls and the infamous ‘Water Wipe Out’ zone.
If that sounds a bit daunting there is the ’Half Mucker” option where competitors can enjoy 75% of the obstacles whilst running a shorter 13-mile course.

Whatever race you choose, runners and supporters are invited to attend the notorious Dirty Weekend after-party, complete with performances from live bands and DJs under a 5,000 capacity big-top tent, with food courts, a colossal beer tent and a huge music stage. Ash top this year’s bill. You can even camp in the beautiful Estate grounds where facilities include hot showers, “glamping options” and electrical hookups for RVs.

Entry to the 2015 event is open until capacity is reached. It costs £139 per person or £129 per person when entered as a team of 5, and £119 per person for a team of 10. This entry fee includes access to the afterparty.
Camping tickets are also available to buy, with prices ranging from £10 – £20 for two nights and can be purchased after buying your race entry.

Wildfitness was founded by Tara Wood in 2001. The fitness holiday she created was the natural expression of her passion for the outdoors and belief in the potential of the human body. Tara was brought up in Kenya and found that being outdoors, active and eating well can flip your mood and boost your health like no medicine can and she wanted to bring this experience to others.

The Wildfitness team consistently develops the courses with expertise drawn from people at the forefront of the natural and evolutionary fitness field.

Through efficient exercise using Kettlebells, boxing and their very own KO8 bands, they will make you stronger, leaner and more knowledgeable about how to keep going once you return home.
