5 HEALTHY HOLIDAY DESTINATIONS

As well as being a personal trainer and Adidas global ambassador, Zanna van Dijk is also a fitness and travel blogger. So, with the holiday season approaching, here
are five healthy holiday destinations to visit in 2017…

Rome, Italy

This stunning European city is best explored on foot. The majority of the tourist attractions are within walking distance of one another. When I visited last year I was averaging over 25,000 steps a day! If you want to increase the intensity, then run around the local parks which are scattered with statues and fountains. Don’t forget to refuel at Ginger Cafe, the healthiest spot in town.

Ibiza, Spain

Ibiza might be known for its buzzing party scene, but it is also a hot destination for fitness retreats and yogi escapes. If you don’t want to sign up for one of these, create your own! Head for hikes around the coastline and get involved with the watesports. Be sure to visit Es Vedra; a stunning island you can see from a viewpoint, which I recommend you head to for sunset. Ibiza also has a whole host of healthy cafes, with the mostpopular the Passion Cafe. Indulge in their pancakes as a post-hike treat!

New York, USA

New York is ahead of the game when it comes to the fitness scene. There are more unique studios than you can shake a stick at! My favourites are Tone House, Shadowbox, the Fhitting Room and KORE. Take a towel and be prepared to sweat! If its healthy food you’re after, I’ve got you covered. Head to Cafe Madeline, Hearth or The Butcher’s Daughter. After all that fuel, why not walk around Central Park or climb to the top of the Empire State?

Bali, Indonesia

Bali is pretty hyped up right now! But it lives up to it if you stay in the right place. Seminyak is where the action is, but I recommend staying in Canggu or Ubud if you want to avoid the crowds. You can be active by hiking the rice paddies, cycling through the local villages or surfing. When it comes to food, there is an abundance of incredible healthy cafes. Some of the best included Watercress, Betelnut, Nalu Bowls and my ultimate favourite: The Shady Shack.

Byron Bay, Australia

Byron Bay is a hippie town, where everyone has dreadlocks and no one wears shoes. You can stay active by hiking up to the nearby lighthouse or surfing in the gorgeous ocean. Browse the local whole foods shops such as Fundies, to stock up on unique healthy treats you cant get hold of back home. Then tuck into wholesome food at Folk, Combi or Bayleaf Cafe. For a unique dinner, check out The Beet vegan restaurant which serve up an epic jackfruit “pulled pork”.
