Get outside and get in shape! Kurtis Stacey shares an outdoor workout that will help you get in shape for summer!
While I agree that taking that first step in making the decision to become more active is great, many of you think joining a gym and buying some gym gear will change everything. However, as humans, we’re not meant to spend all of our time on machines, or lifting man-made equipment and repeating the same routine over and over. It is more beneficial for our minds and bodies to enjoy the great outdoors while we exercise. Research shows a connection between spending time outdoors and a reduction in stress. Fresh air and an increase in oxygen helps release serotonin, the feel-good brain chemical, meaning your outdoor training sessions not only help keep you fit and healthy, they put you in a good mood, too. Combine this with simple exercises and you have the easiest and cheapest way to get in shape.
My top exercise for training outdoors is jogging around my local park. I find this quite relaxing, but for those of you who say they HATE jogging, I have written a simple circuit that you can do on the spot in your garden, park, or at the beach. This circuit can be easily altered to your own personal capabilities and requires no equipment. Complete and repeat the circuit twice at a minimum.
